What is porting my VP number?

Porting lets you move your VP number and contact list from another VRS provider to Convo. This guide explains how the process works, what to expect, and why more Deaf users are choosing Convo’s interpreters, community features, and Deaf-led approach.

Keep your VP number and contacts when you switch to Convo — and gain interpreters, tools, and a Deaf-owned community.

Porting is the process of moving your VP number and contacts list from your current VRS provider to another VRS provider. With the availability of VRS provider options to choose from, deaf consumers like you and me can take advantage of porting.

The big question

"Will I lose my VP number and all of my contacts if I port to Convo?"

No! You can port your phone number and keep your contact list. Currently, the best solution is to contact your old provider to get an email file of your X-Card. Forward that to Convo Support, and we'll take care of the rest! We make the transition as easy as possible for you.

Reasons to port
  • We have awesome interpreters who are committed to capturing the essence of your identity and message in every call!

  • Apps that are created with Deaf lens

  • We are a company that's growing with your support

  • Access to the extensive Community Directory, video mail, and more!

  • We are Deaf-owned and Deaf-run
