Getting Started with Convo for Zoom on Mobile

Use Convo for Zoom to connect with an interpreter directly inside your Zoom meeting.

Convo for Zoom is available on PC, Mac, and mobile (phones & tablets) and only needs a Convo VRS number to sign in.

Need a Convo VRS number? Sign up here.

Good to know: You only need to install Convo for Zoom once. Zoom apps follow your Zoom account, not your device — so once it's added, Convo for Zoom shows up automatically on mobile and tablet too. Already added it there? Skip to signing in below.

    Getting an ASL interpreter

    If you're the meeting host

    1. Start your meeting as the host.

    2. Open Convo for Zoom and select Get an interpreter.

    3. When your interpreter's name appears, they'll join your meeting shortly after.

Tip: Don't see your interpreter? Swipe your screen.

    Getting an ASL interpreter

The steps are slightly different depending on whether you're the Zoom meeting host or a participant.

If you're not the meeting host

You'll need to provide Convo for Zoom with the full Zoom meeting invite.

Important: Don't copy the meeting link from an email, Slack message, calendar invite, or another app. The link may not contain the information the interpreter needs to enter the meeting.

    Instead:

    1. Join the Zoom meeting.

    2. Click on More (1) at the bottom of the Zoom window

    3. Click on Meeting Info (2) in the box:

    4. In the Meeting Info window, select the copy icon to copy the full meeting invite.

    5. Click on More then, click on Apps and select Convo for Zoom.

    5. Paste the meeting link in the copy and paste URL box.

    6. Select Get an interpreter.

    7. When your interpreter's name appears in Convo for Zoom, they should join the Zoom meeting shortly after.

If the meeting has a waiting room

Your interpreter may need to be admitted by the meeting host. Use Zoom chat to let the host know that a Convo interpreter is joining. If interpreters switch during the meeting, the host may also need to admit the next interpreter.

What if the person who requested the interpreter leaves?

If another Deaf participant requested the interpreter and needs to leave, you can request an interpreter through your own Convo for Zoom app.

If multiple Deaf participants will be in the meeting, we recommend that each Convo VRS user install Convo for Zoom and sign in before the meeting starts.

If you need to request an interpreter after the original requester leaves:

    1. Click on More at the bottom of the Zoom window, then click on Meeting Info in the box:

    2. Select the copy icon to copy the meeting information.

    3. Open Convo for Zoom and paste the meeting information into the meeting link field.

    4. Select Get an interpreter.

Tip: Need to copy your meeting link from Zoom?  First, select More at the bottom, then click on Meeting Info to copy the Invite link.

For more information about interpreter requests and what happens when someone leaves a meeting, see Convo for Zoom FAQs.
